Harper Schneider

My name is Harper Schneider, and I believe everyone has an important story to share. I was first inspired to try golf as a child because my grandpa played. Not one to back down from a challenge, I participated in First Tee, took lessons, and played in local leagues. Certainly never a natural at the game, I continued to develop my skills, joining the golf team as a freshman and playing varsity for four years. A famous author from my home state of Missouri, Mark Twain, once said, “Golf is a good walk spoiled,” yet I hope to find the time to play during college. In addition to golf during high school, I was very active in various school activities, including Journalism, Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, and Future Business Leaders of America, taking on leadership roles, such as Editor in Chief of the yearbook, and earning several state and national awards in Journalism, Mock Trial, and FBLA. I believe that taking an active role in one’s community is vital, and listening to the stories of the patrons at the cafe where I work as a barista has helped me learn a great deal about the challenges and triumphs of those in my area. Applying these passions about community and storytelling, I am eager to attend Tulane University, where I plan to double major in Social Policy and Practice and Communications. I am grateful to the Hannon-Fields Society for helping to support my academic pursuits and dreams.
