Blake Feldt
My name is Blake, and I’m a senior from Burnet High School. I enjoy competition and strive to be the best version of myself. I love sports, having competed at the varsity level for cross-country, soccer, and tennis. My love for running coalesced into my completion of the Trivium Marathon in Marble Falls. I also recreationally play golf and pickleball. In addition to sports, I try my best to be active in the community. Specifically, I spend a lot of my time on breaks volunteering at the Ark of Highland Lakes in Marble Falls. Academically, I’m ranked 2nd in my class and have participated in a wide range of UIL events spanning math, science, writing, and history. I was the all-conference state champion for UIL Social Studies last year and am going to state again for social studies, current events, and the Barbara Jordan essay competition. Admitted into UT McCombs, I have big plans for the future, wanting to pursue a career in finance or venture capital.
Once I’m successful, I hope to eventually expand my reach and give back to the community through microfinancing. Microfinancing is an idea first developed in Bangladesh by Muhammad Yunus, which utilizes microloans to help get small businesses and business ideas off the ground. Rural communities often suffer from a lack of diverse industry; microfinancing would be a major step forward for small towns across Texas and the entire South/Midwest. I’m excited for what the future holds and can’t thank the PGA and the Hannon-Fields scholarship committees enough for this opportunity.
